I have been doing balloon art for 28 years. I started when I was nine years old. I told my dad that I wanted more allowance, and his response was “go get a job”. I saw someone doing balloons at a local restaurant and thought, “That’s what I want to do.” It’s the best job I’ve ever had. For most of those 28 years, I viewed balloons as a part time job just to make some extra income on the side. And I made some amazing connections. I’ve had the opportunity to twist balloons for Disney World, Barnum and Bailey Circus, Cirque du Soleil, carnival cruise lines, royal Caribbean cruise lines, and I was even the host of a children’s television show. I’ve twisted balloons in 16 different countries, and 46 out of the 50 states. In that time, I have made it my goal to come up with a brand new balloon creation every single day. In addition to being a balloon artist, I’ve also had a variety of other jobs that I believe would make me a great instructor on FABA TV. I was a professional actor for several years.I performed both on a weekly kids television show, and on stage doing plays and Musical theatre. I was also an Elvis impersonator on Carnival Cruise Lines. This experience makes me fun and entertaining not only when I twist at an event, but also when I teach others. Not only have I had a passion for balloons and performing my entire life, but I also love teaching. I have a bachelors degree with a double major in youth ministry and biblical studies. I have taught all ages from kindergarten to seniors in high school. I have taught world history, US history, government & economics, Physical Education, acting, Musical theatre, stage combat, stage Makeup, and Technical Theatre classes. I have taught in public schools, private schools, charter schools, and educational after school programs. I have even taken graduate level coursework in Education. I believe that this experience and training in education not only makes me great with kids at events, but it also makes me a great teacher when I’m helping someone else learn how to twist. I have only been doing balloons full time since 2014.It was a great decision. Business is great and I love what I do. I have a rather unique style and approach to twisting balloons. I don’t use menus. I don’t like limiting myself or my clients to only a few choices. I want to be able to make absolutely anything on the spot. And, I want to be able to make it in around 3 minutes or less. So, the way that I go about accomplishing this is by using what I refer to as Balloon templates. I have developed a few easy to create basic designs that can be easily adjusted to create dozens of easily recognizable characters, all using the same design. I want to help other artists to unlock their creative potential, think outside the box, and start creating their own unique designs. I love all of the balloon videos and instructors that you have on FABA TV. They are amazing. I just recently was an instructor at the Austin convention for Entertainers. My classes there were very well received. I also co-taught a pre-day class with Lindsey Foster. And I worked very closely with Melissa Munn when I lived in NJ. I’ve learned a lot in this industry in the past 28 years, and I just love sharing what I’ve learned with others.
